Established in the year 2012, the department is intended to impart quality management education in Bidar District. It offers a post graduate two years Masters in Business Administration (MBA) course, which is imparted as per the syllabus prescribed by the Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU). The course is divided into four semesters. The syllabus is a very comprehensive and reflects the latest trends in management education. The department follows a very professional teaching learning process that focus on application of the concepts and problem solving approach. The department had completed the first year with encouraging results and is looking for the bright minds that will enter the department in the second year. The major strengths of the department are threefold; the value system and discipline imparted from the college management, excellent infrastructure being put up in a picturesque locality on the outskirts of the Bidar city and well qualified highly motivated and professional teaching faculty. The highly qualified faculty takes utmost care in adopting the most suitable methods of teaching learning process to equip the students with the latest developments in the field of management education.

Sharnbasveshwar Vidya Vardhaka Sangha has been in the field of imparting quality of Education to the students of the Hyderabad Karnataka for many years. The aim of the Sangha is to ensure the students of this region have access to the Education of the highest standards. It was with this vision the Department of MBA has been started in Lingaraj Appa Engineering College, Bidar. The department aims to impart the world-class management education to its students. The aim of the Post Graduate Programme is to groom its students into a highly competent professional, who can rise to the highest echelons of the modern corporate world. Post liberalisation, the business environment has been changing over the last three decades in India. The companies and corporations are increasingly becoming global. Many Indian companies are now acquiring global subsidiaries. More and more multinational companies are establishing their units in the country. Such an international nature of the corporates demands highly qualified personnel who can think with an international perspective. We at the Department of Management Studies, constantly strive to update our knowledgebase, which are translated into the attitudes of the students. A good professional needs the qualities of competiveness, willingness to learn from experiences and mistakes, readiness to assume responsibility, addictiveness to the new environment, high levels of IT skills and leadership qualities. They should have a never-say-no-attitude to be successful. The department takes care of developing these qualities alongside the curriculum prescribed for the Course by the University. I am confident that you will find the experience with the department for two years will be enriching and will bring in a complete change in your attitude and perspective towards your life. Intake The total approved intake for MBA course of the department is 60 students. Half of this seats will be filled through the Government and the remaining half will be management quota seats.
Course Structure The MBA programme is divided into four semesters spread across two years. The first two semesters mainly focus on the core areas of management with an objective of providing very strong conceptual understanding of the subject. The second year is more of specialization and practical oriented programmes including internship with any reputed organization. Each semester consists of six papers. The final examination of these papers carries 100 marks of which 50 marks are assigned for the written examination. The continuous Internal Assessment is given a weightage of 50 marks. The internal assessment is made on the basis of the Internal Assessment Examinations, presentations, assignments, case studies, attendance, performance in the class and Extra Curricular activities.
INFRASTRUCTURE FACILITIES Classrooms: All lecture halls are well ventilated and equipped with state of the art teaching learning materials. Seminar hall: The college has a well-furnished seminar hall with the modern facilities. The hall is used frequently got organizing seminars, group discussion and guest lectures. Cafeteria: An all-day cafeteria ensures that the students and faculty are provided with simple nutritious homely meals and snacks at an affordable cost. This keeps the worry of taking Tiffin boxes to the college from home in the early hours of the day. Library: LAEC has a splendid reference and leading library with thousands of books, reports, journals, periodicals and CDs. The library has subscribed to number of online journals and repositories, which the students can make use of to keep themselves updated with various developments in the field of business managements and technology. IT Infrastructure and Resource: The college has a robust IT infrastructure. There is a well-equipped computer labs with internet connection through Local Area Networking (LAN). Accommodation: LAEC, Bidar assists in accommodation for outstation students. The hostel facilities are available in close proximity to the campus and students are charged affordable fee. Orientation, Teaching and Methodology: The teaching sessions are divided into theory classes and assignments and practical’s. The class room sessions are scheduled with 90 minutes sessions. These sessions are divided into the two portions of 45 minutes each. The first 45 minutes are devoted for the theory classes through lectures. The next half of the 45 minutes will be used for revision, preparing assignments, group discussion and continuous comprehensive evaluation. LAEC attaches utmost importance to the industrial visit for its students. With an aim to go beyond academics, these visits are arranged to develop the insights of the students - attaining practical knowledge and their theoretical applications thereof. Industrial visit is considered as one of the most tactical methods of teaching. The main reason behind this “it lets students to know things practically through interaction, working methods and employment practices. Moreover, it gives exposure from academic point of view. We take a group of students for a guided tour into the premises of various industries, providing them information about the background of the companies and their current position in the global business scenario. MBA Leadership Mentor Program Each year the LAEC actively recruits senior business people, to offer their time as mentors to MBA students. The goal of the MBA Leadership Mentor program is to provide opportunities for students to communicate and develop relationships with experienced business people to develop their leadership skills, gain insight on industries or functions, learn about corporate strategy and trends, and see how executives meet difficult challenges.
MBA - Career Development Techniques In order to become successful business men and top management professionals, various techniques are adopted by the college to prepare the students. Most important among these techniques are as follows. Self-Assessment: Here the students complete self-assessment inventories and talk about their skills and career interests. Resume Writing: A very critical feature of enhancing the chances of being selected by the prospective employer is a good resume. The resume should reflect all the positive features of a candidate in a very appealing way. The employer will be looking through the presentation of the resume while short-listing of the candidates to be called for interview. Thus, only a good resume will get an interview call for you. Hence, the college is paying attention to prepare the students on writing a good resume. We organize special sessions for our students in this subject. Group Discussion: Group Discussion is a major tool of selection process in the corporate world today. This gives an opportunity for the employer to assess multiple candidates at the same time saving a lot of time. Further the Group discussion facilities in identifying the leadership qualities of the candidates. The successful group discussion shows the emergence of he natural leader in the group. Interview: Various interview skills like, Telephonic Interview, Face to Face Interview, Stress Interview are discussed along with guidance and tips on communication skills, personality development, positive attitude development, presentation skills and etiquette. Aptitude Test: Issues faced by the students with regard to various topics and the approach to each of them are discussed in detail and counselling on specific dimensions of test is provided. Further, sample aptitude tests are carried out in order to appraise the current status of the students and help them to improve further. Other Skills: Effective ideas and guidelines on role play, body language and case study analysis are dealt with. Career Impact The college prepares its students beyond attaining a management degree. It prepares you for a high flying career as a top corporate leader. At LAEC, we create cognizant, dynamic, confidant and creative business leaders who stand different from others in their professional as well as personal life. Placement Cell The college gives importance to ensure the employability of the students who study here. In order to increase the employability, the institute regularly interacts with the potential employers. The inputs received from the employers are utilized in improving our teaching learning process. Hence, the process in the department is dynamic and we strive to improve our quality continuously. Since the college is established recently, the experience gained by the parent institution will also come handy for the college. Joint sessions are organized with the Appa Institute of Management to ensure maximum employability of our students. The department will be organizing industry exposure visits for the benefit of students. These visits will familiarize the students of the college with the business environments of major industries as well as the various management processes being adopted in industries. These exposures will ensure that the students who pass out of the department are aware of the professional challenges and fully prepared to face them on the first appointment itself.
